The Pierre is located in Lincoln Park, one of the most desirable neighborhoods of Chicago. Residents are within walking distance of Lake Michigan, with its beaches, bicycle and walking trails, and other attractions. There is easy access to shopping on the Magnificent Mile, the loop and the North Side by public transportation, as well as convenient entry to and exit from Lake Shore Drive.
The Pierre is adjacent to the Lincoln Park Zoo, the Lincoln Park Conservatory, and the Lincoln Park Cultural Center. The latter offers programming year round, with a special emphasis on recreational programs for children during the summer. The Chicago History Museum is just a short walk away. Lincoln Park is also host to the well-known Green City Market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from May to October.
Children who reside at The Pierre can attend a variety of excellent public and private schools. Among the public schools – all of them top-rated – are Lincoln Elementary School, Oscar Mayer Magnet School, offering grades K-8, and Lincoln Park High School. Nearby private schools include Francis W. Parker School and the Latin School of Chicago. Both offer junior kindergarten through 12th grade. There is also an array of parochial schools and Montessori schools from which to choose.
The neighborhood also affords residents an excellent choice of dining options, from Mello’s, the corner take-out joint at Dickens and Clark to fine dining at Ricardo Trattoria and many in between. The owner of Geja’s Café, a fine dining fondue restaurant nearby, resides at the Pierre. Other spots within walking distance popular with Pierre residents include RJ Grunts, which claims to have invented the salad bar; as well as Stanley’s Kitchen and Tap, Riccardo Enoteca, as well as Café Brauer located on the South Pond of the Lincoln Park Zoo, Mon Ami Gabi and Intro just two blocks north at the Belden Stratford, and Four Farthings Tavern and Grill.
The Park West Theater is a local performance venue of note, and visitors who need hotel accommodations close by may enjoy the Hotel Lincoln, which also features a well-known restaurant, the Perennial Virant.
The Pierre is in Chicago’s 43rd Ward, and is currently represented by Alderman Michelle Smith.
